The very famous festival of Hemis Tse Chu requires no introduction. Every year 2 days in the month of June the courtyard of the largest & richest monastery of Ladakh, Hemis, is jam-packed with the Ladakhis and the tourists to watch and celebrate the birth day of the founder of the Tibetan Buddhism, Guru Padamasambhava. The lamas attired in colorful bright brocades and elaborate headgears perform the masked dances (Chamms) with “good (Gods) defeating the evil (Demons)” being the underlying theme. The Buddhist festival of Hemis Tse Chu in Ladakh adds cultural color and vibrancy to Fairs and Festivals of India .
HEMIS TSE CHU OR HEMIS FESTIVAL TOUR
This itinerary covers the first day of the two-day Hemis Festival, one of the best Monastic festivals of Ladakh. It also incorporates the major sightseeing places and excursions (from the festival venue, that is, Hemis Monastery) with the main events of the festival. The program can be customized as per your requirement.
Day 1 – New Delhi
Welcome to Incredible India : Welcome to Incredible India! You are welcomed & picked up by our executive from the International airport and transferred to the hotel in your private car. (Our executive will be waiting outside the custom area with a placard of your name) We will have a welcome briefing covering the various aspects of the tour (ensuring that you have the best of the Indian holiday) and you will be handed over the India travel kit containing all relevant documents of your trip (air/rail tickets, hotel vouchers, transport, guide, sightseeing vouchers, writing pads with other travel related documents). No pre-planned activities for the day but the car & the driver will be at your disposal.
Day 2 – Leh
Welcome to the ‘land of gompas’: early morning transfer to airport to board flight for leh. pick up by our representative and transfer to hotel. arrival at leh airport, to be received by our representative and transferred to the hotel. check in to the hotel for a complete day of rest wherein welcome tea and coffee will be served by the hotel. lunch will be served at 2.00 pm, after lunch visit leh market, leh palace, hall of fame and shanti stupa. overnight hotel.
Day 03: Leh – Hemis Festival and Excursion to monasteries
Post breakfast proceed to visit the hemis monastery to join the festivities. watch the grand spectacle of religion and region, that is, of buddhism and ladkah. buy souvenir from the temporary market installed for the occasion. Also visit the Shey gompa, shey is the ancient capital of ladakh and thiksey gompa, an impressive complex rising tier upon tier on a hill above village. dinner & overnight stay at hotel in leh
Day 04 Leh: Excursion to Pangong Lake (320 km)
after early breakfast leave for pangong lake (14,500 ft), through changla pass 17,350 ft, it is the third highest motorable road in the world. at 1200 hrs. arrive pangong, it is the highest salt water lake in the world, shared by two countries India & China. packed or hot lunch will be provided. enjoy the beauty of the lake on the banks of pangong while appreciating the changing colors and fascinating high altitude of the lake. drive back to leh by the same route. overnight hotel.
Day 05: Leh: Excursion to khardungla top (18,380 ft.)
post breakfast we drive to khardung la – the highest motorable road in the world at 18,380 ft. the top is 39 kms from leh. enjoy the views from the top and then return to the hotel for hot lunch. later in the afternoon at leisure for last day visit to the market. overnight at hotel in leh.
Day 06: Tour Ends: Leave for New Delhi
0600 hrs. Transfer to airport and fly back to delhi for the international flight with sweet memories of Ladakh.
