DAY 1 – Kochi
Welcome to Incredible India : Welcome to Incredible India! You are welcomed & picked up by our executive from the airport and transferred to the hotel in your private car. (Our executive will be waiting outside the custom area with a placard of your name). We will have a welcome briefing covering the various aspects of the tour (ensuring that you have the best of the Indian holiday) and you will be handed over the India travel kit containing all relevant documents of your trip (air/rail tickets, hotel vouchers, transport, guide, sightseeing vouchers, writing pads with other travel related documents). No pre-planned activities for the day but the car & the driver will be at your disposal.
Note: The normal check in – check out time of the hotels are 1200 hours and if your arrival time does not suit this we can arrange activities for you on the first day or pre-book the hotel from the previous night on additional charge and as per your request. Normally it takes more than 1 hour to get out of the airport from the time of arrival.
DAY 2 – Kochi
Queen of Arabian sea : Kochi is the most cosmopolitan and modern city of Kerala.It comprises of Ernakulum (the mainland) and a group of islands on lake Vembanad. It was dominated by the Chinese, Dutch, Portuguese and the British at some point of time, all of whom have left indelible marks.
The sight seeing for the day includes Mattancherry palace, Pardesi synagogue, Santa Cruz Basilica, St Francis church and Chinese fishing nets. In the evening enjoy a Kathakali dance performance. Overnight at Kochi.
DAY 3 – Kochi> Munnar (130 km / 4 hrs)
Munnar – breathtakingly beautiful : Drive towards east to reach Munnar . As the highly esteemed ‘National Geographic Traveler’ puts – it is “one of the fifty must see destinations of a lifetime and one of the ten paradises of the world.” Swathed in the velvety green carpet of tea plantations, it is one of the most romantic landscapes of the world.
On reaching Munnar check into the hotel. Rest of the day is for leisure. Explore the place at your own and have overnight stay.
DAY 4 – Munnar
Verdant carpet of manicured gardens : After breakfast set out for Eravikulam National park. It is famous for its population of Nilgiri Tahr – highly endangered specie of mountain goat. Next you visit the Tata Tea museum, Madupetty dam and top station to get the awesome views of this hill town.
Overnight stay at Munnar.
DAY 5 – Munnar > Periyar (110 km / 3.5 – 4 hrs)
Spice town : Drive towards south for Periyar. The sanctuary, declared a Tiger Reserve in 1978 under the Project Tiger scheme, attracts travellers from all over the world. It was created by the old Travancore State Government in 1934. The park encompasses a 26 sq. km. artificial lake, built by the British in 1895 to provide water to the temple city of Madurai in Tamil Nadu.
Check into the hotel for lunch and some rest. Later go for a spice plantation tour and then in the evening explore the spice market. Overnight at Periyar.
DAY 6 – Periyar > Kumarkom (128 km / 4 hrs)
From a fascinating natural wildlife reserve to haven of birds :Early morning you go for a boat safari in the Periyar Tiger reserve. After this you have the option of going for an elephant ride and bathing the elephant and also getting a shower from it.
After lunch you drive towards west and reach Kumarkom – a cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake. A 14 acres bird sanctuary which is a haven for a host of migratory birds like Siberian stork and many others like Egrets, darters, herons, teal, waterfowl, cuckoo, wild duck, is the hall mark of Kumarkom. You can either go walking inside the sanctuary or take a boat trip round the islands. We recommend an evening or an early morning trip when the chances of spotting the birds are good. Overnight at Kumarkom.
DAY 7 – Houseboat (Kumarkom to Alleppy )
Home afloat-a masterpiece of craftsmanship : Early morning visit the bird sanctuary. After breakfast you will be transferred to the houseboat to sail on the backwaters- the USP of Kerala. In Kerala, the total expanse of backwater stretches over 1500 kms, with a network of 44 rivers, lagoons and lakes from north to south. Alleppey which forms the main part of this network has the peculiar geographical feature of having the water in level with the land. This gives the advantage of getting a closer look at the countryside life on shore while on a backwater ride.
Your houseboat has fully furnished bed room, a drawing cum dining room with comfortable chairs, kitchen and toilet. The fish preparations, in local flavour, on the houseboat are really a gourmet’s delight. In the evening the houseboat comes to a halt for overnight stay.
DAY 9 – Kovalam
After breakfast you can visit Puthen maliga museum and Napiers museum complex. Visiting a city’s museum is the shortcut to learn about the place and its culture. Later enjoy the trendy Kovalam beach. You must try some Ayurvedic massage as well and see how your tiredness vanishes
DAY 10 – Kovalam
The way back : Day at your own till drop at Thiruvanthapuram airport (16 km / 30 min) to board flight for your onward journey to end your best of kerala tour.
